Why does Beany need to contact my previous accountant?

Before we can add you to our agency at the ATO, we need to let your previous accountant know. We check in with them to confirm that there’s nothing outstanding that they are working on that will stop us from being able to work with you (like prior accounts or resolving tax issues). It’s also a matter of professional courtesy.
